Did you hear the government thinks hydroelectric dams are not green power?
90 percent of Washingtons Power is hydroelectric.
If by green, you mean does not hurt the environment, they are not.
Dams heat the water in the river, changing the environment for plants and fish.
but does that mean they can’t be improved.

Funny thing is, most hydroelectric damns were built by the government. Unfortunately we will let these bureaucrat’s bankrupt us.

They are not green. The rivers that are damed are changed drastically. many native fish will die. Entire ecosystems are changed. I still think it’s better then air pollution.

The so-called "green" concept means whatever it is defined to mean. Hydroelectric power is renewable power whose source is solar. It releases no carbon into the atmosphere, and has very minimal environmental impact. A lake habitat is just as ‘green’ as a valley habitat, it’s just different. ‘Green’ is mostly a political buzzword and bully club, and is often used to distort even environmental issues.
